Sometimes when I have an event to attend that requires a gift, I feel so lost as to what I could possibly buy for the person. It does not matter what the occasion is, it is never easier to figure out what my friend, family, or coworker could want that will not seem like a waste. However, one of the trickier gifts for me to give is a house warming gift. I feel like there are so many cliché things I could give, but I do not want to gift the same thing as someone else. I would also hate to give a gift that they already have, or that seems useless to them. If I were to buy a new home the last thing I would want is another piece of junk to clutter things up. However, I would probably feel obligated to display the gift or at least make it seem like I was using it in case my friend who gave me the gift were to come over. After running into this situation several times, I have come up with a few go-to gift ideas for any housewarming party.
Flowers for Now or Forever
Giving flowers to someone is a nice and classy thing to do, no matter what the occasion is. There are a few ways to do this though. I love to call 1800flowers to have them freshly delivered so that they are surprised. This is also a great option if you do not have time to go pick them up, you can have them delivered to your home or office and just take them with you to the party. Another great option for flowers is to buy a potted plant that they are able to have for a longer period of time in their home, or maybe even plant it in their yard once it is big enough so that they may enjoy this gift of pretty flowers forever.
Sign Up for a Subscription
I am constantly seeing advertisements for different types of subscription services where they send you a sample of something, or a box of samples of things, once a month. There are a million different kinds out there depending on what you are into. One of the best things about these services, is that you can pick something you are generally into, and turn it into an opportunity to try something new every month. Some of the different things I have seen out there include health and beauty boxes, clothing subscriptions, coffee samples, or wine and beer tasting clubs. I would recommend doing something like the coffee sample boxes or the wine and beer tasting clubs. All you need to do is sign up with their name and address, pay the yearly fee upfront, and tell your friend to start expecting some packages each month. If you do not want to commit to an entire year, or are afraid your friend will not be interested in the sampling you are offering, then you can always do a three-month or six-month plan.
